Hello
Pretty photograph, Jessie.
"In the eyes of many, International law lacks utility... when discerning the appropriateness of the use of force, the ICJ relies heavily on the United Nations Charter, and its general proscription. Nontheless, cases such as 'Nicaragua' hint that the court sees the Charter as merely a portion of the law available. Particularly by reference to two exceptions to the use of force prohibition - anticipatory self-defence and humanitarian intervention - although there is no direct evidence that either exist in the law, scholars read into the existing judgments and provisions, and the current understanding of customary law (does it survive the Charter? the court in Nicaragua said it does), to fall on either side of the line: was Iraq a legal use of force through anticipatory self-defence (inferred through the 'Caroline' case, Article 51 of the UNC and various Security Council Resolutions)? Was the intervention in Kosovo, as the UK Ministers stated, a valid use of force under the humanitarian intervention exception?"
I don't fuckin know!
